Dry off and head North

If you own a boat, you love the water. You need water, but it’s a different story when it descends relentlessly from above. Tropical North Queensland receives on average, just under 2000mm of rainfall per year, with a majority of this occurring during Dec.-March. Thats the equivalent of about 6.5 feet.  A pretty decent wave for a surf.

Unless you’re a diehard surfer, most people don’t want it to rain when they are on holiday. They want nothing but sunshine and cloudless skies. “Beautiful one day, perfect the next” was etched into our expectations. Nature often has other ideas. The damage this amount of rainfall can do to tourism is almost as damaging as the rainfall itself. The Whitsunday region counts for almost a quarter of the tourism industries employment. These jobs then escalate to support other industries and further local businesses, which keep the economy rolling. So dry off, get up north and enjoy the exquisite islands, beaches, hospitality, and adventure that North Queensland has to offer.
